With the assistance of the Canada Council Playwright in Residence program and the Nova Scotia Department of Tourism, Culture and Heritage, Allen Cole has been developing a musical adaptation of Frank Parker Day's Rockbound which he began during our 2007-08 Season. The winner of the first Canada Reads competition on CBC Radio, Rockbound tells the story of a young man named David Young who comes to the small island of Rockbound to claim his share of the territory. "Rockbound evokes the power, terror, and dramatic beauty of the Atlantic, and paints a portrait of back-breaking labour, cunning bitterness and family strife in the decade preceding the first Great War" (CBC Radio). The premiere production of Rockbound will be the centrepiece of our 2009-10 season. For tickets, click here.
