The Actor – Warriors have all ridden into the sunset, the armour has been hung up, the battle tents are being dismantled and Two Planks and a Passion Theatre has finished out another acclaimed season of theatrical magic. Not content with resting on our laurels, or dragon-covered seats, we are busy preparing for 2012.
We will have a new adaptation of the classic play Lysistrata, a tale of women withholding... affection... from their husbands to stop a war. In this adaptation, they will be in the American Civil War, with music by Allan Cole (Rockbound, Pelagie), inspired by early American mountain music. Think Oh Brother Where Art Thou meets Cold Mountain meets a hilarious comedy of female empowerment.
We do need your help to make this happen. While Beowulf was incredibly successful as an artistic enterprise, with audiences and critics wild about it, we were not blessed with good weather, which dropped our revenues substantially.
As a charity, we need to make up that loss with donations. In order for us to finish out the season plan and be ready for next season, we need your help and we can thank you with a special show and reception for the first 120 donors (or volunteers) who have given more than a $100 in cash, time, or goods from now until September 30, 2011.
You get a tax receipt, special recognition in the program in 2012, a ticket to the show and a reception with cast and creators. And you help us make magic happen.
We love making theatre for you, and we hope you can help us bring this new play to the stages of the north mountain!
You can donate through our secure server at Canada Helps (click here), by calling 582-3073, or by mailing us back this form.
Thanks for supporting Two Planks and a Passion Theatre and keeping Theatre Live!
