Two Planks and a Passion is committed to creating unforgettable shared experiences through one of the oldest mediums that exists: the theatre. Beowulf

Two Planks and a Passion Theatre’s 2011 Theatre Off The Grid production is the world premiere of Rick Chafe’s Beowulf.

Beowulf is one of the oldest stories in the English language, reminagined by the playwright who wrote our award-winning , 2007 production of The Odyssey. Keeping the excitement and drama of the original, with contemporary language, Chafe’s Beowulf imagines Beowulf’s daughter Lyra who seeks out the father she has never known to return and save her people.

She discovers a kingdom under siege, her legendary father beset with seemingly insurmountable challenges and a Dragon closing in.

Chafe’s Beowulf wrestles with questions of justice, destiny and fate in the face of the grand monsters that test us all. Staged outdoors at the Ross Creek Centre on a 184 acre farm that surrounds the centre,

This world premiere features a cast of 13, large scale puppetry and some of the region’s most talented artists.
